Returned soldier report.

Poetry Response

Returned Soldier.

The connections I made to this title was a soldier returning from war and celebrating his return.

This poem was organized with 2 Stanzas, the first Stanza has 8 lines, while the second stanza has 12 lines. The rhyming pattern of the poem was AABBAABB AABBAABBAABB.

The tone of this poem is quite inspiring. For example: "One good foot left of what was two feet, One lung just as fair, and one unclouded eye."

There are many different types of poetic devices used in this poem by the Author. I found this Simile in the 2nd paragraph, it is this "Rosellas red as apples." And a line of Hyperbole, "How wheat turns copper and gold in late November." I also found a piece of Personification here, "But all those years I heard them whining by.".

The poem is about the war he went through and reflecting and thinking about the bright side of it.

  1. Savannah, I really like this poem because despite all he has been through, he still has a really positive attitude towards life.
You've grasped the deliberate acts that the author has used to create this poem.
